Tax GDP ratio of 2020-21 will be upgraded to 15 percent. There are instructions from our senior authority that we must change the culture of forgiveness, NBR Chairman said at the press conference organized on the occasion of International Customs Day at NBR conference room.
He said every year the government is planning development. Growth of GDP is increasing. Tax GDP ratio is also very important with the development plan and GDP size. In countries where Tax GDP ratio is good, over there foreign dependency is low. Our target is to bring the present Tax GDP ratio from 11 percent to 15 percent by 2020-21.
According to him, the increased in Tax GDP revenue does not mean that we will raise Tax GDP by raising revenue by pressuring and pressing people. We have a goal and the country is moving forward. The flow of money in the country, the size of the economy is rising and revenue is rising.
If the industrial expansion and business development do not grow, the country could not move forward. The employment generation will be low. The aim of the customs officials have to be facilitate trade. If traders do better because of trade facilitation, revenue will increases. There is a tax and tax exempt culture in the country. This exemption will be given only in the required area.
Regarding exemption, the chairman said, “We are not children now. Our businessmen are not even children. We all have a match. If you want a rebate then another will want. I will not work here with anyone’s face. No discrimination will be allowed. The culture of forgiveness has to come out.
