The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) chief on Wednesday emphasised on organising sector-wise trade exhibitions for their crucial role in expanding and flourishing different sectors.
Mentioning that the international exhibitions have played a role in the development of the sectors like plastic, textile, and pharmaceutical, FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin said the small and medium entrepreneurs could find the world’s renowned suppliers and buyers under a single umbrella through the exhibitions.
The chief of the country’s apex trade body spoke virtually in the first meeting of the Standing Committee on International Trade Fair and Foreign Delegation held at the FBCCI Boardroom in Dhaka, a press release said.
At the meeting, Jashim Uddin urged the standing committee to identify potential sectors and hold international exhibitions on these sectors.
He said the government’s several organisations arrange exhibitions and roadshows abroad. “To make this initiative more effective, they should associate the counterparts,” he suggested.
FBCCI Vice-President and Director-in-Charge of the Standing Committee Md Amin Helaly said the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) should incorporate the private sector in organising and participating fairs and exhibitions. And for this purpose, he called for forming a joint committee of the EPB, the Ministry of Commerce, and the private sector.
