Secretariat entrance rules tightened

The government has imposed new restriction on the entrance into the Secretariat in order to intensify security in view of threats given to people of different professions across the country.
As per the new order, the government has asked the top officials not to issue any ‘entrance pass’ before becoming sure about the visitors’ identity in order to avert any untoward incident.
The government took the initiative to enhance security of the officials in the Secretariat, the Home Ministry source said. The Home Ministry has also sent letters to the ministries to follow the government’s direction. Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry Dr. M Mozammel Haque signed the letter.
According to the new direction, the Joint-Secretary to Secretary level officials can now issue only five ‘entrance passes’ instead of previons 10.
In the letter, the Home Ministry has also requested all the ministries not to call any meeting on Monday before 3pm, not to issue temporary card violating the ‘Secretariat Entrance Policy-2014 and also not to give new vehicle stickers.
There are seven thousand permanent officials and employees working in the Secretariat.
About three thousand people of different professions visit the Secretariat to take part in the meetings every day.
At least 10 thousand people used to visit the Secretariat except on Monday before the latest order.
