The second span (superstructure) of the Padma Bridge, one of the largest infrastructure projects in Bangladesh, has been installed.
The 150-metre long ‘7B superstructure’ was placed on pillar 38 and pillar 39 on Sunday morning, said an on-duty engineer at the site.
The 3,1430-tonne superstructure was taken there by a crane from pear 35.
The installation work was postponed on Jan 20 due to low navigability in the river.
The 7B superstructure is now being attached to the first span of the 6.15km Padma Bridge.
The first span of the bridge was installed in September last year in a formal ceremony. No formal ceremony took place for the installation on Sunday morning. — Source : bdnews24.com
