UNB, Dhaka :
Amid concern and criticisms over Section 57 of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act, Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu on Sunday said the Section 57 of ICT Act is not contrary to human rights and the Constitution.
“Those who raised questions about the Section 57 of ICT Act didn’t say anything about its ambiguousness,” the minister told a press briefing at the PID conference room on Sunday. He said work for enacting a new law to prevent cyber crimes is going
on and a decision will be taken over its sections when the law will be enacted.
Speaking about the protests by some ruling party leaders and an MP over the killings of the party men in recent incidents of crossfire, Inu said, “There’re over 300 MPs and over 1000 leaders and activists of Awami League across the country. Among them, one MP might react to it and it is quite natural but the extrajudicial killing is not the formula of the Awami League-led grand alliance government,” he said.
Talking about Khaleda Zia’s recent call to the government to open the ‘closed door of besieged democracy’, the minister said the door of democracy is open and it is not confined. Actually, the militants are confined here.
