The search committee, headed by Chairman of Bangladesh Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, has submitted its report to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for appointing a new deputy governor to Bangladesh Bank (BB).
“The committee has already submitted its report to the PMO for appointing a new BB deputy governor,” a high official of the Finance Ministry told.
Without giving details about the report, he said the new deputy governor is likely to come from the executive directors of the central bank since most of the candidates for the post are BB’s top officials.
A senior official of the central bank said there are six candidates for the post while four are existing executive directors of Bangladesh Bank, one is a former executive director of the bank and another applied from outside of the bank.
A deputy governor post of the central bank fell vacant after BB deputy governor SK Sur Chowdhury completed his tenure on January 31, 2018.
