A scuffle took place between two groups of Awami League activists during a meeting of its Dhaka city unit at its office in the city on Sunday centring on fixing date for council of thana units.The trouble began with a thana unit leader proposing date for the council and another opposing holding council without necessary preparations, said meeting sources.The extended meeting was convened to set date for holding councils of thana committees of the city Awami League.Making a hectic effort to calm the situation, city Awami League general secretary Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, also Disaster Management and Relief Minister, said no grouping will be allowed in the unit. “First think about your quality before emerging as a leader,” he said pointing at the feuding groups. City unit joint secretary and Food Minister Quamrul Islam said the city unit will have to be tidied up. He also said new committees of the thana units will have to formed by February 28. Meanwhile, the meeting fixed dates for holding council to some thana units.
