Scorching heat has gripped Dhaka, with Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) recording a maximum temperature of 35.4 degrees Celsius on Friday.
On the day, the minimum temperature in the capital was recorded 28.5 degrees Celsius.
Met officials said the high levels of humidity coupled with the rise in temperature are likely to result in sweltering conditions and uneasy afternoons.
The Met office in its weather forecast said light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions; at many places over Rajshahi & Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka, Khulna
& Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over northern part of the country.
Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country, it added.
“At present, temperatures are settling slightly above the normal levels and residents are reeling under uncomfortable weather conditions. However, with the upcoming spell of rain, temperatures will witness a drop and comfortable weather will make a comeback over Dhaka,” said an official at the BMD.
