“There is difference between science and technology. Science is invisible while technology is visible”, said Prof Dr Chowdhury Mahmud Hasan, former Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy of Dhaka University and former Director General of Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR). He said, “Technology is the result of Science. In Science Technology is most important.”
Dr Chowdhury said this as chief guest in the Science Fair 2016 organised by Manarat Dhaka International School and College (MDIC) at Gulshan in the capital on last Thursday. The fair was held under the supervision of Brig Gen (Retd) Md. Mehdi Hassan Pramanik, Psc, Principal of the College, Fatima Jemaima Rahman and Munshi Md. Harun-Ar-Rashid, Vice Principals and Muhammod Abu Mohshin Quraishi, Convener of the Science Fair and others. The motto of the fair was “Efforts for Innovation”.
Prof Chowdhury said, “Science was created for human welfare and it should be utilized constructively for the welfare, progress and prosperity of human beings.”
He expected that Manarat would play an innovative role by organizing Science Fair with all Schools and Colleges of Bangladesh to bring to light the talents for a bright future. MDIC Principal said, “Future scientists will be created from these young innovators. Manarat students are now doing research in NASA today.”
The whole MDIC campus was resounding with cheerfulness in the fair. The young scientists displayed their wonderfully invented extra-ordinary projects in the fair. Project demonstrates the high ingenuity of some scientific-minded students. It is hoped that if these pupils are given favorable environment to flourish their creativity they will certainly bring glory for the country.
Some projects displayed in the fair were: ‘Floating Civilization’, ‘The Solar system’, ‘Bio-Plastic, ‘Producing Electricity from waste materials’, ‘Water purification for free,’ ‘Organic Adhesive,’ ‘Creative Gadget,’ ‘Solar box cooker,’ ‘The effect of Antibiotics on Bacteria’, ‘Fuel for the future’ and ‘Angioplasty’ etc.
The potential scientists were rewarded for their extra-ordinary projects.
