A schoolgirl died mysteriously at Peshkarpara area of the district town on Monday night.
Police recovered the hanging body at 1am on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Sumayia Binte Anwar, daughter of Mohammad Anwar of the area and a student of Class X at local Amena Khatun Girls’ High School.
Anwar said a vagabond Shahedul Islam Jacky of the area used to tease his daughter on her way to and from the school. Once he abducted her and in this connection, several arbitrations were also held where the youth promised not to tease her again. Despite that, he used to tease her. On Monday last, Sumayia’s parents went out of the house leaving their daughter alone. At night, they got phone call that their daughter have died.
Anwar further said, as their daughter was alone, the vagabond might have entered the house and killed her.
Operation Officer of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station Abdur Rahim said police would investigate into the matter and after autopsy of the body, would take necessary measures.
