A schoolgirl committed suicide by having rat-killing tablets as she was humiliated for not following the dress code at Shivpur in Narsingdi on Thursday.
The deceased identified as Prabha (13) was the daughter of Bhutto Mia, reports banglanews24.com
Since the incident, the accused teacher has gone missing.
According to a police statement, school teacher Nargis Sultana Kanika was taking a physical exercise class around 4:15 pm. At that time, the teacher humiliated Prabha for not following the dress code. After that Prabha bought rat-killing tablets from the market and ate them.
Later Prabha went to Shivpur police station around 4:30 pm and filed a complaint against the teacher with the duty officer.
In the statement, it was mentioned that the alleged teacher always without any reason humiliated her in
front of all the students. The teacher is responsible for her death.
Soon after lodging the complaint, Prabha fell ill inside the police station. Later, the police quickly informed the headmaster of the school and sent Prabha to Shivpur Upazila Health Complex.
However, she died on the way to the hospital around 6 pm.
Shibpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Salauddin Mia confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
He said according to the complaint, teacher Kanika is responsible for Prabha’s death.
“We have already started an operation to arrest the alleged teacher,” he further said.
