A minor schoolboy abducted from Arpara village under Kaliganj upazila in Jhenaidah on last 30 December could not be rescued.
The abducted boy was identified as Rabbul Haque Rafi, 13, son of Monirul Islam of same village. He was a student of class eight in Naldanga Bhushan Pilot High School. Kaliganj police quoting the family sources said, Rafi left the house on December 30 to collect his final examination result from his school, but did not return home. On January 3 and 4, last a gang of abductors over cellular had demanded Taka two lakh to Rafi’s mother Amena Khatun. Then his father had filed an abduction case with Kaliganj police in this connection.
Kaliganj police officer in chare Anwar Hossain said, they were informed about the matter when he was missing. Police is active to arrest the culprits and rescue the victim as soon as possible, the police said.
Mention may be made here that the number of killing incidents of the children for ransom has been increasing.
