Seventeen matches of Hurray Wafer School Mini Handball tournament (boys and girls) were decided on the opening day (Tuesday) at Shaheed Captain M Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the city.
In the day’s opening boys’ section matches, Motijheel Model School and College drubbed Dhanmondi Tutorial by 16-0 goals, Motijheel Model School and College crushed Heed international School by 21-1 goals.
Heed international School defeated Cambrian School and College 12-2 goals, Kadamtola Purbo Bashabo School outplayed South Point School and College 14-1 goals, Sunnydale thrashed Dhanmondi Tutorial by 17-1 goals.
Motijheel Ideal School and College outclassed Cambrian School and College 21-1 goals, Sunnydale fought hard to beat Motijheel Model School and College 8-5 goals, Shaheed Police Smrity College defeated Scholastica (Mirpur) School by 21-3 goals and Scholastica (Uttara) beat Scholastica (Mirpur) by 9-4 goals.
In the day’s opening girls’ section matches, Motijheel Govt. Girls’ High School beat Milestone School and College 14-0 goals, Heed International School defeated Shaheed Police Smrity College by 5-1 goals, Sunnydale School outclassed Scholastica (Uttara) by 15-4 goals.
Motijheel Govt. Girls’ High School beat Dhanmondi Tutorial by 7-4 goals, Milestone School and College blanked Dhanmondi Tutorial by 4-0 goals, St. Francis Xavier’s Girls’ School played out to a 4-4 goal exciting draw with Heed International School, Scholastica (Uttara) defeated Scholastica (Mirpur) by 9-1 goals, and Shaheed Police Smrity College beat St. Francis Xavier’s Girls’ School by 15-3 goals.
A total of 24 schools teams – 12 of boys and 12 of girls – are taking part in the meet, sponsored by Pran RFL and organized by Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF).
Earlier, Youth and Sports Ministry’s Joint Secretary Md Omar Faruk, NDC formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.
