Police detained a young man for raping a schoolgirl at Ramanandi village of Sadar upazila in Laxmipur district on Sunday night.
A case was also filed against the rapist, Yousuf Hossain, with the Sadar Police Station on Monday.
According to local and Police sources, Yousuf entered the house of the victim, a Class-X student, at night and raped her
gagging her mouth with a piece of cloth.
At one stage, hearing victim’s screams, neighbours rushed in and caught Yousuf.
Later, he was handed over to police, said the Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station.
Dr Anwar Hossain, Medical Officer of Sadar Hospital confirmed that they found the evidence of rape after examining the girl.
