School Cricket in the district began on Saturday at Shah Abdul Hamid Stadium in the town.
District Sports Association (DSA) organized the tournament under the management of Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Deputy Commissioner and also president of DSA M Ehsan-e-Elahi inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest.
General secretary of DSA Advocate Shah Masud Jahangir Kabir Milan, secretary of District Umpire Association Waziur Rahman Raphel and others members of the DSA were present on the occasion.
Speaking at the function, DC Ehsan-e-Elahi said the cricket has become one of the most popular sports among all particularly the students and the youths.
He also said such the tournament would undoutedly help create good cricketers who would play significant role to imporve this sector and uphold the image of the country to international arena through showing better performance.
