SCF requests govt for completing war crimes trial

Speakers at a discussion yesterday urged the government to complete the war crimes trial, stressing execution of the verdicts.
Sector Commanders Forum (SCF) along with the countrymen wants to see that the pro-liberation force is continuing to the state power, they said.
The SCF, Dhaka divisional committee organized the discussion on “Bangalee Nationalism of Struggle, Bangabandhu and Glory of Liberation War and Prevention of History Distortion” at Begum Sufia Kamal auditorium here.
Addressing as the chief guest, chairman of
SCF Major General (retd) KM Shafiullah, Bir Uttam, said Tarique Rahman and other political leaders are involved in the history distortion.
About war crimes trial, Shafiullah said 72 tribunals had been formed and gave death sentence against 22 people for the first time under Collaborator Act, formulated by Bangabandhu. The tribunal also executed death verdict against Chikon Ali, he said.
Chaired by president of the committee Freedom Fighter Professor Abul Kalam Azad, the discussion was also addressed, among others, by vice chairmen of SCF Major General (retd) Chittaranjan Dutt, Bir Uttam and Col (retd) Abu Osman Chowdhury, vice chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, acting general secretary Harun Habib, sub-sector commander Major (retd) Ziauddin Ahmed, Dr Proshanta Kumar Roy, Freedom Fighter Hafiz Mahbubur Rahman and Mustafizur Rahman Chowdhury.
