SCC announces Tk 839cr budget for FY2021-22

Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury on Thursday announced city budget of Tk 839 crore for 2021-22 fiscal year. SCC Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury announced the budget at a press conference at a convention center in the Sylhet city on Thursday.
Significant sources of income have been shown in the budget – holding tax of Tk 44.92 crore, tax on transfer of immovable property Tk 6.80 crore, tax on construction and reconstruction of buildings Tk 2.2 crore, tax on occupations Tk 6.5 crore, advertisement. 1 crore 25 lakh on tax, Tk. 90 lakh for renaming fee and renewal fee of shop buyers in different markets, Tk. 30 lakh for contract listing and renewal fee, Income from bus terminal lease is Tk 55 lakh, truck terminal lease income is Tk 18 lakh, ferry lease income is Tk 16 lakh 50 thousand, city corporation property and shop rent is Tk 1 crore, road roller rent is Tk 80 lakh, road cutting compensation. Income of Tk 50 lakh, income of Tk 1 crore 20 lakh in waste management sector, Tk 4 crore 60 lakh for monthly charge of water connection line, Tk 60 lakh for connection and reconnection fee of water line, Tk 15 million for approval and renewal fee for installation of tube wells Money.
Significant expenditure sector has been shown in the budget – Taka 10 crore in Government Development Program (ADP), Taka 31 in Kovid-19 tackling, Dengue tackling, Sanitation and Publicity sub-sector, Taka 31 crore 70 lakh in Government Special Grants sector, Taka 1 crore for other project grants. , City Corporation’s Infrastructure Construction Project Taka 10 Crore, Sylhet Metropolitan Water Disposal, Clean Water Supply and Infrastructure Construction Project Taka 130 Crore, Tk 26 crore 72 lakh in road drain and culvert construction project sector damaged in 2016 flood, Tk 27 crore 36 lakh in modern vehicle and equipment supply project for modernization of waste management to increase civic service in the metropolis, Tk 20 crore in urban building upward expansion project sector, Tk. 2 crore in Sheikh Hasina Shishu Park infrastructure development project in Surma area, Tk 5 crore for traffic congestion and beautification project, Tk 10 crore for various rhyme excavation and obstruction removal projects, Tk 30 crore for city corporation asphalt plant and land acquisition for various development projects, Tk 5 crore for city corporation’s own filling station, 5 crore for setting up of plastic recycling plant of city corporation, 5 crore for setting up of city maternity home and diagnostic center of city corporation in Kumarpara.
Besides, Tk. 20 crore for Lalmatia Dumping Ground Development Project, Tk. Tk. 20 crore for road construction project including retaining wall and walkway from front of Circuit House to Hazrat Gazi Burhan Uddin Road, Tk 4 crore for construction of 4 parking systems, Tk 4 crore for construction of 4 cattle huts in Sylhet City Corporation area, Tk 4 crore for construction of 4 slaughterhouses in City Corporation area, Tk 4 crore for construction of 4 playgrounds in City Corporation area, City Corporation Tk 20 crore has been spent on setting up educational institutions in the area, while Tk 10 crore has been shown for the development of mosques, temples, churches, shrines, cemeteries, cremation ghats and Eidgahs in the city corporation area.
In the budget, a total expenditure of Tk 80.59 crore has been allocated for the revenue sector. Of this, Tk 32.24 crore was spent on general establishment, Tk 7.8 crore on education expenditure, Tk 3.5 crore on grants to social and religious institutions, Tk 13.14 crore on health and infrastructure expenditure and payment of land development tax.
Expenditure of Rs. 50 lakhs for sector, Rs. 20 lakhs for tree planting and maintenance, Rs. 25 lakhs for litigation fees and management expenses, Rs 60 lakh for National Day celebrations, Rs 1 crore for Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary celebrations, Rs 15 lakh for sports and culture, Rs 15 million for Mayor’s Cup cricket and football tournaments, Rs 15 million for Mayor’s Cup Badminton The allocation for organizing the tournament is 30 lakh rupees.
Besides, allocation of relief or emergency relief expenditure is Tk. 1 crore, expenditure in case of emergency disaster is Tk. 2 crore. Road lighting costs Tk 3 crore, office or building rent allocation Tk 1 crore, security policing expenditure Tk 50 lakh, digital fair organizing expenditure Tk 30 lakh. 15 lakh has been allocated for other expenditure sectors. Besides, Tk 12 crore 37 lakh has been allocated for the installation cost of water supply branch, connection cost of water line, repair of pump house, machine and pipeline.
In his budget speech, Mayor Arif urged the city dwellers to pay the arrears of tax. This will further accelerate the development of the city and reduce the dependence on the government for development.
Apart from the journalists, professionals and the SCC ward councillors and officials, including its chief executive officer Bidhayak Roy Chowdhury and chief executive engineer Nur Azizur Rahman, attended the programme.
