UNB, Dhaka :
The Supreme Court here on Tuesday upheld the High Court order that granted bail to BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in two arson attack cases.
Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foyez Siddique upheld the HC decision by issuing ‘no order’ after a hearing on an appeal filed by the government against the High Court order.
Rizvi’s counsel adv Sagir Hossain Lion said as the Chamber Judge passed
‘no order’ that means the HC order is now upheld. “Now there’s no bar to Rizvi’s release from jail as he got bails in all the cases filed against him.”
The two cases were filed against Rizvi and others over a petrol bomb attack on a bus in Chauddagram upazila in Comilla during BNP-led alliance’s movement early this year.
On November 2, the HC granted interim bail to the BNP leader in the two cases.
Amid the BNP’s non-stop countrywide transport blockade, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Rizvi from a house in the city’ s Baridhara area on January 31.
