SC to resume anticipatory bail hearing from Aug 22

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has opened the window of holding hearing on the anticipatory bail petitions abiding by the health guidelines.
The High Court benches having criminal motion jurisdiction can hold hearing on the anticipatory bail petitions from August 22 maintaining the health guidelines and taking necessary protective measures.
Md Ali Akbar, registrar general of the Supreme
 Court, has issued a notification on Tuesday to this effect under the instruction of the chief justice.
The concerned High Court benches will fix the date of hearing on the anticipatory bail petitions, also read the notification.
In the backdrop of new surge of the Corona virus, the Supreme Court issued a circular in tgis regard on April 5 and stopped the hearing on the anticipatory bail petitions.
The physical appearance of an accused is mandatory in case of anticipatory bail hearing which could not be possible, as the country was under the lockdown.
But, the Supreme Court lawyers appealed to the chief justice different times to start the hearing on the anticipatory bail petitions in the interests of the justice-seeking people.
