The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in an order on Monday stayed the Tangail-4 by-polls till January 31.
A four-member bench led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order in a hearing on a petition filed by the Election Commission (EC) to stay a High Court order
that asked it to accept the nomination paper of Kader Siddique for allowing him to contest the Tangail-4 by-polls.
The SC also ordered for settlement within January 31 the HC order that challenged the legality of the cancellation of Kader Siddique’s nomination.
The SC referred the bench of Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam and Zafor Ahmed for settlement of the order.
