Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain Friday stressed the need for making a modern and time-befitting urbanization policy.
Such a policy should save farm land, he said speaking as chief guest at an exchange of opinion meeting at CIRDAP auditorium in the city.
Municipal Association of Bangladesh (MAB) organized the meeting marking ‘World Urbanisation Day-2014.’
The minister said measures would have to be taken to improve life standard of rural people so that they do not migrate to cities.
Referring to importance of protecting farm land, he said if all lands are used for residential purpose, there will be no land to produce crops in future.
