Readymade garments (RMG) workers of a factory took to the streets in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka, on Saturday morning demanding due salaries.
The workers of ‘Q Fashion Ltd’ in Rishipara area under Tetulia union blocked the Hemayetpur-Singair road around 10:30am and staged demonstrations for salaries of January. Contacted the factory authorities, it was learned that they are facing problems to pay salaries of the workers due to low order and the owner’s absence as he has been out of the country for long time.
On information, senior Asistant Superintendent of Industrial Police -1 Abu Jafar and his team went to the spot.
The factory general manger Selim Reza said “The workers were paid half salary on February 25 as the bank could not give us the money as per our need.”
“We have faced the problems as the owner of the factory could not return to the country from USA due to coronavirus pandemic,” he added.
