Police in a drive arrested Savar municipality mayor Mohammad Refat Ullah from his residence in Savar upazila early Sunday on sabotage charge. The arrestee is also president of the municipality unit of BNP. A team from Savar Model Police Station conducted a raid on the house of Refat Ullah at Kornopara in the early morning and arrested him. Police said Refat Ullah is accused in several cases filed with Savar and Ashulia police stations. Meanwhile, police also arrested four activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir along with a foreign-made pistol, 29 rounds of bullet, two crude bombs and some jihadi (religious uprising) books from Shahibagh area on Saturday night.
