Dhaka customs house detained a passenger, a Saudi expatriate, along with one kg of gold worth about tk 60 lakh from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday.
The arrested individual is Khurshed Alam.
Solaiman Hossain, Dhaka Custom House Assistant Commissioner said to the new Nation that Khurshed Alam was arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Saudi Arabian Airlines from Jeddah on Sunday evening.
Passenger Khurshed Alam was challenged by a team of customs. One kg gold was recovered. It was kept hidden inside a electric hot plate.
“He came back to Bangladesh after two years. He was handedover to police on charge of smuggling gold.” he added
