The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Dhaka has termed a news item published in different media about shifting of the tomb and chamber of the Prophet (PBUH) in the Masjid An-Nabawi as totally baseless.
Clarifying the position, the Embassy in a statement on Saturday stated that the news item does not represent the opinion of the Saudi government which has utmost keenness in serving the two holy mosques and maintaining their sanctity.
In an explanatory statement, Ahmed Bin Mohammad Al-Mansouri, media spokesman of the General Presidency for the affairs of the two holy mosques — Masjid Al-Haram and Masjid An-Nabawi — has clarified the situation and said that what is being circulated in the media about the Prophet’s tomb and chamber in the Masjid Nabawi is related to a special study carried out by a researcher.
“It is the personal opinion and outlook of a researcher who had expressed in his views in a study.
The prevailing system has been followed in this academic research,” it added.
The statement said that the Presidency asks the researchers and media men not to engage in publishing any report that creates confusion, incite sedition and disturbance. It also urges them that the report should be based on wisdom, objectivity, truthfulness and lack of exaggeration, especially in those matters related to the two holy mosques.
