The National Agriculture Day was observed at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) on Tuesday. The program was organized by the Directorate of Students’ Affairs of university authority in collaboration with cultural organizations of SAU.
A rally marched on the campus and surrounding areas in a festive mood carrying with banner, festoon and placard showing the scenario of village farmers.
Then a Seminar and Discussion on Agriculture Day was held at Wifi Zone.
Prof Dr Kamal Uddin Ahamed, Vice-Chancellor of SAU was the chief guest while Prof Dr Md. Sekender Ali, Pro-VC of SAU and Prof Dr Md. Anwarul Haque Beg, Treasurer of SAU were also present as the special guests.
The seminar was chaired by Prof Dr Md. Mizanur Rahman, Director of the Directorate of Students’ Affairs (Student Adviser) of SAU.
Speakers said that, the National Agriculture Day was first celebrated in the country in 2008. In 2009, it was also observed. But after that the day was not observed as its demand. As an agro-based country, this day should observe in national arena.
A colourful cultural ceremony was staged with the participation of the members of different student organizations at the evening.
Participating organizations are SAU Debating Society, SAU Language Club, Kishan Theater, SAU Rovers Scout, SAU Bandhusova, SAU SahhittoSangshod, Swapnashiri, Badhon, Saptak, and SAU Photographic Society etc.
