Saraswati Puja celebrated

Saraswati Puja, one of the important religious festivals of the Hindu community was celebrated in Bagerhat district town and its all the nine Upazilas on Wednesday amidst great enthusiasm.
On this occasion more than 50 Puja pandals were erected in the town this year by the different Puja committees organized mainly by the students. More than some 60 puja pandals were highly decorated under the galaxy of multi coloured flood lights and attracted a large crowd belonging to both Hindu and Muslim communities.
Sylhet Correspondent says: Saraswati Puja, one of the main religious festivals of the Hindu community, is being celebrated in the Sylhet city on Wednesday.
Every year, the puja is celebrated on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Magh as Goddess Saraswati was born on this day. The day is called ‘Vasant Panchami’.
As Saraswati is considered the goddess of wisdom and knowledge, Hindu devotees, especially students, celebrate the Saraswati Puja in different educational institutions and temples.
Traditionally, the students of Several Educational institution celebrate the puja setting up 20-25 mandaps, which every year turn into the main attraction of the celebrations.
Gouripur (Mymensingh) Correspondent adds: Saraswati Puja was celebrated on Wednesday in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district with traditional gaiety and religious fervour.
Saraswati Puja is undoubtedly one of the most popular festivals in Mymensingh region. Saraswati is the goddess of learning, arts and crafts. It is a festival celebrated by the youth, particularly students who invoke the blessings of the goddess for success in learning, arts and crafts. Throughout Gouripur upazila Saraswati Puja was celebrated in schools, colleges, clubs as well as homes.
