Nasim says: Salim Osman should never come to Parliament

Staff Reporter :Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim has said that MP Salim Osman should never come to the next Parliament Session if he feels shame for humiliating teacher Shyamal Kanti Bhakta.He made the remarks while he visited the head teacher of Narayanganj’sPiyar Sattar Latif High School Shyamal Kanti Bhakta at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday.The Health Minister went to the hospital to see Shyamal around 1:15pm.”Salim Osman and his cohorts should understand the kind of protests that were held against their actions. I believe they have lost the moral battle,” said this senior Awami League leader. He added: “That MP should not come to Parliament if he has an ounce of shame.”Nasim said the teacher’s physical condition has improved but he is mentally upset for the humiliation. “Authorities have taken every kind of measures to ensure the teacher’s security.”Shyamal Kanti Bhakta was made to do squats in public by lawmaker Salim Osman on May 13, after rumours spread that he had insulted Islam. The public humiliation of the teacher triggered countrywide protests and condemnation.The incident sparked a storm of protests and the school’s Managing Committee which had sacked the teacher following the assault was scrapped by the Education Ministry.Nasim also said, “As Salim Osman is a member of the Jatiya Party, it is responsibility of that party to take any disciplinary actions against him.”
