Sales of milk, egg, meat at fair prices start in Natore

Sales of milk, eggs and meat like other parts of the country started at fair prices in Sadar upazila of the district today.
Respective district administrations and district livestock department are jointly implementing the selling activities in collaboration with the Livestock and Dairy Development Project and the Bangladesh Dairy Farmers Association and Bangladesh Poultry Farmers Association aimed at ensuring nutrition to people for enhancing their immunity to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Shahriaz inaugurated the program in a simple ceremony arranged on behalf of the district livestock department in Madrasa Mor area this morning.
District Livestock Officer Dr. Golam Mostafa and Additional Superintendent of Police Mir Asaduzzaman, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Jahangir Alam and upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Selim Uddin were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Md Shahriaz urged the authorities concerned to ensure a coordinated management to conduct the programme successfully to enable people in purchasing milk, eggs and meat easily in a hassle-free way to meet their nutrition and increase immune system.
Under the programme, 500 liters of milk, 2,000 pieces of eggs and 250-kg of chicken meat will be sold in mobile pickup vans at important places of the city from 9 am every day, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Md Selim Uddin said.
The process of starting activities in other upazilas is also underway, the district livestock officer added.
