Sale of advance train tickets for Eid begins

The sale of advance train tickets for Eid-ul-Fitr holidaymakers from Dhaka to other districts started at 8am on Saturday.
Ticket seekers crowded Kamalapur rail station and four other spots in the capital since Friday midnight.
The ticket sale began at 8 am at five spots – Kamalapur, Airport, Cantonment, Tejgaon railway stations and Fulbaria in the capital.
The tickets for travelling on April 27 are being sold on the first day.
About 50,000 train advance tickets have been sold out in the first hour after tickets sale starts at 8pm.
It was said in a circular signed by Farhat Ahmed, Public Relations Manager of Shohoz, a ticketing company, on Saturday afternoon.
Like previous years, half of the train tickets will be sold at ticket counters while the rest online, the Railway sources said.
The advance ticket sale will continue till May 1.
Railway sources said the train tickets are being sold considering May 3 as the possible Eid day.
As per the possible Eid day, the ticket for April 27 are being sold on April 23 while for April 28 ticket will be sold on April 24, April 29’s ticket on April 25, April 30’s ticket on April 26 and May 1’s ticket on April 27.
However, the Ministry of Railways has decided to run 6 pairs of special trains alongside the normal trains.
Of the special trains, Chandpur Special 1 and 2 will run on Chattogram-Chandpur-Chattogram road from April 29 to May 1 before Eid and from May 4 to May 8 after Eid.
The Dewanganj special train will run on Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka road from April 29 to May 1 and from May 4 to May 8.
Khulna Special train (through Maitree rack) will run on Khulna-Dhaka-Khulna road from April 29 to May 1.
Solakia Special-1 train on Bhairab Bazar-Kishoreganj-Bhairab Bazar road and Sholakia Special-2 on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj-Mymensingh road will run only on Eid day.
In order to implement the slogan ‘Ticket Jar, Vromon Tar’, passengers have to purchase the ticket by showing their National Identity Cards or the photocopy of their birth certificates at counter.
Each passenger will be able to buy maximum four tickets.
