Salahuddin’s wife returns home

UNB, Dhaka :Hasina Ahmed, wife of BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed who is facing a criminal case in India for trespassing, has returned home from Shillong.Salahuddin’s bother Giasuddin Ahmed said Hasina reached home on Friday night to accomplish some important family affairs.He said, his sister-in-law will again go to India to accompany her husband there a few days later.BNP sources said Hasina actually arrived to collect necessary documents andpapers relating to her husband’s disappearance to produce those before Meghalaya court.After getting bail from the court, Salahuddin has been staying in a rented house in Shillong and his condition is gradually improving, according to the sources. In Hasina’s absence, Salahuddin’s nephew Safwan is taking care of him.Earlier on June 5, a lower court in the Indian state of Meghalaya granted detained BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed bail in the trespassing case.The court gave Salahuddin bail on condition that he would have to stay in Shillong and be present before the court once a week.The BNP joint secretary was picked up from a house in the city’s Uttara on March 10 by unidentified men who allegedly introduced themselves as detectives.After remaining missing for around two months, Salahuddin was found in Shillong, the capital of north-eastern Indian state of Meghalaya, on May 11. He was arrested for entering India without any valid documents.
