Salahuddin to be repatriated for trial: Asad

Staff Reporter :Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed, currently facing trial in India facing trail for illegally trespassing the border, will be brought back to the country for trial in several arson and vandalism cases.The minister said that Salahuddin Ahmed has many charges of arson attacks and vandalism against him carried out during BNP’s enforced movement early this year. Asaduzzaman talked on the matter of Salahuddin while replying to a question at a function in Mouluvibazaar on Thursday.The minister earlier visited the memorial of Birshrestha Sipahi Hamidur Rahman in Moulvibazar and placed floral wreaths there. Earlier on Wednesday, a Shillong court in the Indian state of Meghalaya framed charges against BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed for intruding into the Indian territory.The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate KML Nongbri also fixed July 30 for starting the trial of the case filed under the foreigners act. Salahuddin’s lawyer SP Mahanta, however, said his client denied the charges because he did not trespass. He did not know how he went there, as he was always blindfolded.
