Premier Division Cricket League: Salahuddin Pappu leads Rupganj’s victory

Opener Salahuddin Pappu blasted 95-ball off 125-run as Legends of Rupganj notched a 26-run victory over Kalabagan Krira Chakra in the ninth round of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) held on Monday.
Pappu smashed 12 boundaries and eight over boundaries as Rupganj amassed a massive total of 314 for 5 from their allotted 50 overs, after they were forced to bat first by Kalabagan at Bangladesh Krira Shiksha Protishthan (BKSP) ground in Savar.
Pappu also involved 150-run second wicket stand with Mohammad Niam (45) after Rupganj lost their opener Abdul Mazid (20) early.
Later, skipper Naeem Islam made a quick fire unbeaten 53-ball off 61-run to ake the team’s total past over 300 runs landmark.
Taibur Rahman and Abul Hasan shared two Rupganj’s wickets giving away 19 and 49 runs respectively.
Chasing a massive winning target of 315-runs set by Rupganj, Kalabagan fell short as they were all out for 288 in 49.5 overs despite a fighting knocks came from Shreevats Goswami (75) and Mohammad Ashraful (64).
Abul Hasan (34), Mahmudul Hasan (30) and Faruque Hossain (29) got a good start but all they failed to take Kalabagan at home in the face of tight bowling attacks by the Rupganj’s bowlers.
Asif Hasan and Parvez Rasool were the pick of Rupganj bowlers as the duo captured three Kalabagan wickets each conceding 43 and 50 runs respectively. They were well supported by Mohammad Shahid who took two wickets for 62 runs.
Salahuddin Pappu of Rupganj was named the player of the match for his impressive batting performance.
