Amateur Golf: Sajib Ali emerges men’s champion

Mohammad Sajib Ali of Bangladesh emerged men’s champion in the Runner Group 30th Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship- 2015 with style playing 18 under par (70+69+65+66) 270 after the 4th and last round match at the Kurmitola Golf Club here on Saturday.
Sadom Kaewkanjan of Thailand finished runner-up playing four under par with a gross score (75+72+66+71) 284 while Mohammad Rasel of Bangladesh became 3rd playing three over par 291.
In the ladies single category, Parinda Phokan of Thailand emerged champion, her compatriot Kanyalak Preedasutthijit finished runner-up while Sonya Akhter of Bangladesh became 3rd.
After the 2nd and final round, Thailand ladies team comprising of Parinda Phokan and Kanyalak Preedasutthijit clinched the team event title playing level par score (144+144) 288, Bangladesh ladies ‘B’ team comprising of Sonya Akhter and Nasima Akhter finished runner-up while Bangladesh ladies ‘A’ team comprising Jakia Sultana and Liza Akhter won the 3rd place. Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari was the chief guest at the closing function and later he gave away the prizes among the winners at the Banquet Hall of Kurmitola Golf Club in the evening.
Senior Vice-president of Bangladesh Golf Federation Major General Mizanur Rahman Khan, Secretary General of Bangladesh Golf Federation Brigadier General Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah, Vice-chairman of Runner Group 30th BAGC 2015 Organising Committee Brigadier General (retd) Salim Akhtar, Tournament Director Brigadier General (retd) Abidur Reza Khan, Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Golf Federation Colonel (retd) Sardar Hassan Kabir and Managing Director of Runner Group Brigadier General (retd) Shafiquzzaman were also present on the occasion.
A total of 185 golfers, including 37 foreign ones, from eight countries — Afghanistan, Bhutan, Pakistan, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh — took part in the four-day championship.
