Saif Islam Dilal, planning editor of Ekushey TV, and Ziaur Rahman, editor of Arthosuchak.com, were elected president and general secretary respectively of Economic Reporters’ Forum for two years in an election held on Friday.
Dilal bagged 71 votes while his nearest contestant SM Jahangir, chief reporter of The Financial Express, polled 60 in the election held at the Jatiya Press Club.
Zia got 54 votes while his nearest contender Sharmeen Rinvy, news editor of the Bangla Vision, polled 42.
Salahuddin Bablu was elected vice president by bagging 78 votes while his nearest candidate Suniti K Biswas bagged 59 votes.
Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, former president of the Bangladesh Federation Union of Journalists, and Syed Abdal Ahmed, former general secretary of the Jatiya Press Club, conducted the election.
Earlier, ERF’s biennial general meeting was held with outgoing president Sultan Mahmud in the chair.
