Court Correspondent :
A Dhaka court again asked Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) yesterday to submit probe report by June 7 in the case filed over the murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.
Metropolitan Devdas Chandra Adhikari of Dhaka CMM Court passed the order after RAB Investigation Officer failed to submit the report on Tuesday.
With this, the report submission date has been deferred for 88th time so far.
The couple was brutally murdered in their rented apartment in West Rajabazar of the city on 11 February 2012.
Sagar Sarowar was a broadcast news editor of Maasranga TV and Meherun Runi was a senior reporter of ATN News. Their four-year-old son Mahir Sarowar Megh was present at the apartment at the time of the murder.
Runi’s brother Nousher Alam filed the murder case with the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station. Four days later, the Investigation was handed over to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB).
On 18 April 2012, 62 days after they got the investigative duty, DB admitted their failure. The court then instructed RAB to investigate the case.
