SAFF Championship to be held in October

The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship will be held in October. Bangladesh was scheduled to host the gala football tournament. Later, Bangladesh decided that it will not stage the football competition.
So, the Executive Committee of SAFF will decide in an online meeting on Monday where and when will be the SAFF Championship take place.
Nepal and Maldives are interested to stage the prestigious football tournament.
Secretary General of SAFF Anwarul Haque Helal said, ” The meeting of the Executive Committee of SAFF will decide on Monday where and when will be the SAFF Championship held.”
Pakistan and Bhutan will not compete in the SAFF Championship. Pakistan has been suspended by FIFA, while Bhutan stated that they would not take part in the SAFF Championship. Because the Government of Bhutan will not permit Bhutan team to go abroad due to coronavirus outbreak. So, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives will take part in the SAFF Championship. The first phase of the competition will be held on Single League basis. Top two teams will get the tickets of the final. The winners of the final will be the champions of the gala football meet.
