Safe learning environ for pry students urged

The speakers at a discussion recently emphasised on ensuring safe and better learning environment to build reading skills and instill reading habit among primary school children.
Reading habit is a must for the children to enrich their knowledge and make themselves world standard. So, there is no second option, but encouraging
the children to read books in a safety and good environment, they said.
These were the speakers’ comment at a discussion titled “Role of Children’s Storybooks and Library in developing Reading Skills and Habit” jointly organised by Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) and Room to Read Bangladesh (RtR-BD) in the DPE Auditorium on the occasion of International Mother Language Day on Tuesday.
Director General of DPE Dr. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, ndc, was at the programme as chief guest while Country Director of RtR-BD Rakhi Sarkar presided over it.
Additional Director General of DPE Ramjan Ali, Director (Policy and Operation) Bijoy Bhushan Paul, Director (School Feeding) Ram Chandra Das and the Director (Second Chance Education) Delwar Hossain spoke at the programme as special guests.
Chairman of Bangladesh Shishu Academy Selina Hossain presented the keynote paper while Director of RtR-BD Zillur Rahman Siddiki gave welcome speech.
Rakhi Sarkar vowed to continue partnership with government to attain the common vision of quality education and lifelong learning for all.
