SAFA int’l confce begins in city today

A two-day international conference of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) begins in Dhaka today.
Organised by the Institute of Cost Management and Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), the conference will be held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital city on October 18-19.
The major objective of this year’s conference is the financial reforms to help boost industry and service sectors, the organiser of the conference said in a press briefing in Dhaka on Saturday.
Delegates from the accounting bodies of the host country Bangladesh and the other members of SAFA will join the conference, which will have four technical sessions.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Nepal are the members of the SAFA – a regional forum for the professional accountancy bodies in SAARC region.
Established in 1984, the federation’s mission is to bring the accounting bodies together with a common forum and facilitate professional cooperation in education, training and technical and ethical standards.
