Sadman and Swarnavo become champions in Sheikh Kamal Chess

Sadnan Hasan Dihan emerged as unbeaten champion in ‘A’ Group (Class VI to X) with 4.5 points and Swarnavo Choudhury became champion in ‘B’ Group (Class KG to V) with Maximum 5 points in the Sheikh Kamal Memorial School Chess which concluded on Sunday at NSC.
This tournament was organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation on the occasion of 68th birth anniversary of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal, elder son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Noshin Anjum became runner-up with 4.5 points, Mortuza Mahathir Islam became 3rd and Ahmed Walijah became 4th with 31/2 points each, Kazi Zarin Tasnim became 5th, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam became 6th, and Jannatul Ferdous became 7th with 3 points each. Amit Bikram Roy became 8th, Sadia Afrin Samia became 9th and Mahin Ahmed Shuvo became 10th in with 21/2 points each in Group ‘A’.
Mortuza Muhtadi Islam became runner-up with 4 points, Manon Reja Neer became 3rd with 3.5 points, Israt Jahan Diba became 4th, Srabonti Akter Jerin became 5th , Wadifa Ahmed became 6th and Jannatul Ferdous Ratri Lamia became 7th with 3 points each.
Ashiqur Rahaman Miku Deputy Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association, gave the prizes among the winners as chief guest.
The ceremony was run by International Arbiter Md Haroon Or Rashid. Games of the both groups were held in 5 round Swiss-League system.
Altogether 34 school students from Dhaka and Narayanganj took part and were given trophy and medal to the winners.
