UNB, Rajshahi :
Train services of Rajshahi with Chapainawabganj were restored after 12 hours of disruption following
derailment of a train after miscreants removed fishplates from the rail tracks at Latitnagar Station in Godagari uapzila here early Saturday.
Abdul Karim, superintendent of Rajshahi Railway Station, said two compartments of an Ishwardi-bound train from Rohanpur in Chapainawabganj veered off the track around 12 am, halting train movement between Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj.
The incident took place on the 40th day of the nonstop transport blockade, enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
The rail communication was restored around 12:30 pm after a relief train from Ishwardi salvaged the train.
Later, police arrested two activists of Jamaat-e-Islami in connection with the sabotage.
The arrestees were Hazrat Ali and Elias, residents of Barohati village of the upazila.
The railways authorities formed a three-member probe committee to investigate the incident.
