UNB, Rajshahi :
Rajshahi University Teachers Association (RUTA) has announced a work abstention on Sunday (December 27)
protesting the speech of Finance Minister AMA Muhith over the 8th national pay scale.
On December 23, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said there is no scope to change the newly announced national pay scale. The minister came up with the remark while talking to reporters after paying his income tax online at the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka.
The announcement of the work abstention came from a press release signed by RUTA general secretary
Prof Rejaul Karim on Saturday. The teachers will boycott classes and all kinds of examinations to protest the comments.
They will also arrange a press conference on the overall issues, including the pay structure for Public University Teachers on the day, the press release said. Professor Ananda Kumar Shaha, president of the RUTA, said they will call an emergency meeting after January 2 where the teachers will announce a non-stop work abstention if their demands aren’t met.
