LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain said Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD) would be able to reduce poverty of rural areas through proper researches and trainings.
“The BARD established by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman would have to play more significant role for developing rural areas of northern parts of the country,” he said this on Saturday while addressing the 44th board meeting of Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bogra.
The meeting was also addressed, among others, by lawmaker of Bogra-5 Freedom Fighter Alhaj M Habibur Rahman, secretary of Rural Development and Cooperative Division Dr Prosanta Kumar Roy and Director General of RDA MA Matin and board members.
The minister asked the RDA authorities for carrying out time-befitting research activities and providing quality trainings to speed up rural economy and improve livelihood of rural people.
He said Rural Development Academies established in line with the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD), Comilla would contribute to implementing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s declared vision-2021 and vision-2041.
The RDA, Bogra told the meeting that community biogas plants as prepared by the RDA would be set up as projects in the country, it added.
The RDA, Bogra was established on 19 June, 1974 as a specialized Rural Development Institution for training and research.
