A final ball thriller saw Rupali Bank edge out AV Sporting Club in the final of the first ever Dhaka Women’s First Division Cricket League by 4 wickets. The match was played at the Gulshan Youth Club ground on Thursday.
Winning the toss, AV Sporting Club decided to bat first, scoring 134 for 9 from the stipulated 35 overs. Champa Chakma top-scored with 30 runs for AV while Rima Akter and Jannatul Tithi picked up two wickets each for Rupali Bank.
In reply, Rupali Bank needed to play till the last ball of the match to successfully chase the target of 135, losing 6 wickets in the process. Rupali opener Naznin Nahar scored a match-winning 54 and was adjudged the player of the match. Champa Chakma contributed for AV Sporting with the ball as well, picking up 3 wickets.
It was utter jubilation for Rupali Bank as they became part of domestic history as the champions of the first edition of the League.
