Army captain Udvash Chakma, who fled Sylhet Cantonment last year, has recently been arrested with the help of Indian authorities, said ISPR on Saturday. Udvash, hailing from Khagrachhari district, had been staying in Sylhet Cantonment from February 15, 2015 to participate in a course of Bangladesh Army, the ISPR said in a press release.
It also said, the captain escaped from the cantonment on May 12, 2015. Later, he got involved in various criminal activities creating a network with different terrorists groups in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
At one stage, the release said, they came to know that Udvash along with his wife trespassed into Indian’s Mizoram through a remote hilly area to avoid arrest. Necessary actions are being taken against the officer as per the Army Act, the release added.
