UNB, Kurigram :
Jatiya Party (Manju) candidate Ruhul Amin was unofficially elected from Kurigram-4 constituency after re-voting in two polling stations held on Thursday.
Ruhul bagged 32,607 votes while his nearest rival Awami League candidate Zakir Hossain polled 24,939.
Earlier, re-polling in the two centres started at 8am and continued till 4pm without any pause.
Some 3,117 voters out of total 7,257 cast their ballots in the two polling centres-Keramatia Madrasah and Char Bandhaber Government Primary School. A large number of police, Rab, BGB and Ansar members were on security duty in the election areas to
ensure peaceful voting. The voting at the two polling stations was suspended due to widespread violence during the January 5 parliamentary elections in the 147 constituencies out of 300.
Later, the Election Commission fixed January 16 for re-voting in Kurigram-4 and seven other constituencies, but the High Court stayed the re-polling in Kurigram-4.
