Rubana Huq stepped down from the board of directors of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
Huq herself confirmed the matter to the media on Thursday.
She wrote to the organization expressing her desire to resign from the role after becoming the vice chancellor of Asian University for Women in February.
Neela Hosna Ara, chairperson of Crony Fashions Ltd, superseded Huq in the BGMEA board.
Huq, who gained fame as the first female president of the BGMEA, who got her PhD in literature from India’s Jadavpur University.
Her panel lost the 2021 BGMEA election to Faruque Hassan, managing director of Giant Group.
