RU Correspondent :The charge sheet in the RU Sociology Professor Dr Shafiul Islam murder case was submitted after one year against 11 men, including Rajshahi district Jubo Dal Convener Anwar Hossain Uzzal.”Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Rezaus Sadik submitted the chargesheet to the Rajshahi Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court recently. The seven arrested accused are Nasrin Akhter Reshma, Abdus Samad Pintu, Ariful Islam alias Manik, Sabuj Sheikh, Sirajul Islam alias Kalu, Al Mamun and Ibrahim Khalil alias ‘Tokai’ Babu. But Sagor, Jinnat and Arif Hossain are on the run. In the meantime, mastermind of the murder Anwar Hossain Uzzal fled to India, police sources said. “The reason of the murder was the personal dispute between Nasrin Akhter Reshma, an Assistant Section Officer of RU Finance and Accounts Section, and deceased Professor Shafiul Islam, said IO Rezaus Sadik.Seven days after her arrest on March 7 in 2015 by the Detective Branch of police, Reshma confessed to a court of her involvement in the killing.RAB arrested her (Reshma) husband Abdus Samad Pintu, who is also a Rajshahi Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal leader, and five others on November 23. He confessed to have hacked the Sociology professor near his house in Rajshahi’s Choddopai area following a row centering Reshma. But two days later, he denied the allegation.The IO said, police nonetheless have found no proof of any fanatic group’s attack on Professor Shariful though the ‘Ansar-Al-Islam Bangladesh-2’ claimed the liability of the killing immediately after the attack through facebook post. “The status on facebook was given only to confuse the law enforcers”, the police officer said.On November 15 last year, RU Sociology Department Professor AKM Shafiul Islam was hacked to death by unknown assailants near his house in Choddopai area on the outskirts of Rajshahi city.
