Students of Rajshahi University demanded punishment of the Border Guard of Bangladesh members who opened fire during a scuffle with locals of Thakurgaon Haripur upazila on 12 February, leaving three dead.
The students of Rajshahi University Thakurgaon District Committee on Sunday formed a human chain in front of the university’s Shaheed Minar premises.
Addressing the programme, speakers demanded exemplary punishment and compensation for the victim’s families immediately. If their demands were not met, they will go for a tougher movement, the speakers also threatened.
Their other demands included are- taking all of responsibilities to medical treatment for all of injured villagers, taking legal steps to stop smugglings in the border area and withdrawing case filed against villagers by the members of BGB.
Thakurgaon District Committee president Shohanur Rahman and members Mostafizur Rahman, Oyashiul Haque, Ismail Hossain, Belal Hossain, Anisur Rahman, Rajiur Rahman addressed the human chain programme.
