RU student beaten up by BCL for satire on PM

Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of the ruling Awami League beat up a student severely for satire on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and for his alleged involvement with Islami Chhatra Shibir, student front of Jamaat-e- Islami at Rajshahi University trough a social network face book on Wednesday afternoon.The injured student, Sheikh Josim Uddin, was a third year student of RU Arabic department.
He was also an active anti-quota protester. According to campus sources, Josim came to the campus to attend a tutorial examination in his department.
While he reached in front of Senate bhaban, the BCL leaders and activists attacked and beat him up severely as he gave a sarcastic status through face book on July 1 to mark the PM of Bangladesh.
Later, after beating up, they handed him over to the university proctor.
While contacted, Faisal Ahmed Runu, a general secretary of RU unit said Josim confessed his fault on basis of primary interrogation.
RU Proctor Professor Lutfar Rahman in this regard said New Nation that we gave primary treatment to Josim in the proctor office. Later, he was sent to the Motihar police station for the police protection, Professor Lutfar also added.
